Canaf i'm Prynwr,
Brenin nef,
Gorchfygodd ar y llawr;
A'i farwol lef,
gwnaeth nerthol wyrth,
Ysgydwodd uffern fawr.
"Gorphenwyd!" medd yr Iesu gwiw;
Fe gaed y goncwest fawr;
Ac eistedd ar ei orsedd wna,
Yn Llywydd nef a llawr.
Esgyn a wnaeth i entrych nef
I eiriol dros y gwan;
Fe'n dwg trwy'r
tònau mawrion, maith,
I'w fynwes yn y man.
Ei groes osododd sylfaen gref
Am deyrnas nef i ni;
Cydseiniwn ninau anthem bêr
Byth, byth, am Galfari.
John R Jones 1765-1822Cas. o Hymnau ... Wesleyaidd 1844 Tôn [MC 8686]: St Magnus (Jeremiah Clarke c.1673-1707) gwelir: Canaf i'm Prynwr Brenin nef [MS] |
I will sing to my Redeemer,
the King of heaven,
Who overcame on earth;
With his dying cry,
he did a powerful miracle,
He shook great hell.
"It is finished!" said the worthy Jesus;
He gained the great victory;
And sit on his throne he shall,
As Governor of heaven and earth.
Ascend he did to the vault of heaven
To intercede for the weak;
He will bring us through the
great, vast waves,
To his bosom soon.
His cross set a strong foundation
For the kingdom of heaven in us;
Let us too sound together a sweet anthem
Forever and ever, about Calvary.
